Everett as an Opportunity

Mai Sutton - Fellow/Alumni

The Everett Program gave me the opportunity to collaboratively govern a program as an undergrad, and for the first time in my life see myself as a proactive agent of social change. It gave me the confidence that I could learn and apply almost any technology, if I put the time and energy into learning tools even if I never identified myself as a “technologist”. The Everett Program showed me how valuable it is to take risks, always learn, and never stop using your imagination. It showed me that the most powerful and fulfilling way to do things that matter is to collaborate well with others and never box yourself in. As a student and fellow of the Program, I got a taste for how magical and rewarding it felt to achieve great things with others. And ever since then, I’ve kept striving to find new challenges where I can collaborate with good people to do something that makes a difference.
